Tomorrow, Tomorrow
by Jean Blevins
Together we rushed down the river of time
On a stained glass day
In a crystal boat
Through a green gold world.
The sun was either rising or setting, spilling
Light into the dashing waters.
Our common speech was music & singing
We held hands tightly for one of us was dying
Which one I did not know nor did it matter.
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I cried,
Yes, you smiled and held me tight;
Tomorrow again we shall be Arthur and Guinevere,
Peter and Wendy,
Marian and Robin,
Joan and God,
And all the others and more whose names we have forgotten or not remembered
yet,
Yes, tomorrow, you said, and smiled into my eyes,
And killed me when you died.
